CED plan on farming faces five year delay says expert

The Iowa Business Digest reviews the Committee for Economic Development proposals and concludes the plan will not solve the farm problem in five years. It urges shifting a third of the five point five million farm labor force to non agricultural work, with price supports and soil bank changes. Professor Chang warns tax cuts may be offset by higher food prices and notes regional fallout from worker migration. The analysis highlights storage costs, unemployment, and the need for a broad national development program.
