Cattle and hog markets ease at Kansas City yard week end
Kansas City stock yards report a 32 000 head cattle run total for last week down about 2000 from prior week with steers steady to 10 cents lower and top at 650. Cows and heifers steady with tops around 6 10, stockers and feeders steady, veal calves 575 to 725, March cattle receipts a record 170 000. Hog receipts 69 head last week, market mixed with heavies up to 704, average March hog weight 199 pounds. Sheep and lambs 33 000 head, market gain of 25 to 35 cents, lambs to 815, spring lambs to 1500, stock and feeding grades in demand.
