In a February 19 gathering at Piast Baptist Church fellowship hall Mr. and Mrs Lloyd Mathes were honored by their children and 87 guests. Rev E G Ward led ceremonies, Lucinda Rose Van Gorp recited a poem, and the couple received carnations. A mock wedding followed as Verne Chester and Sharon Mathes performed.
An evening of food and honors centered on a 25th wedding anniversary with guests from Oskaloosa Chariton Harvey Des Moines and Leighton. A short program by children preceded a silver dollars chest gift and a tray lunch served by local ladies. Choirs and families hosted a farewell supper for accompanist Carol Sedrel at Ebenezer Reformed Church Leighton, with Rotarians planning a district meeting at Iowa Wesleyan College Mount Pleasant April 23 and 24.
Date Book lists a Tuesday event at 7 30 p m at 14 West Adams Street hosted by Mrs Stu Kuyper with co hostesses Mrs Arvin Perguson and Mrs Louide Brude. Also W C T U meets at 2 00 p m at the home of Mrs John R Van Gorp 204 Union Street.

The Van Reeses mark their golden wedding anniversary with four children and several relatives in attendance. The event featured generous gifts, a buffet style reception, and a three tier cake. guests included Cirl'o Kamp of Pella and Gene Mortis of Tucson among others.
Mrs Leonard Schip pers Mrs John C Hiemstra Mrs Sam Poortinga Mrs L J Gos selinky all of Pella and other hostesses organized a decorated tray service at Oskaloosa Kellogg and Clinton with Mrs H W Vriezelaar among the workers and Judson and Clinton assisting.
J Beerends and wife observed their 59th wedding anniversary Sunday March 27 at 810 Liberty Street. About 100 relatives and friends visited. He is 83 and she 79, both in good health and able to do their own work. Mrs Ernest Bieshaar of Fremont is a daughter with her two daughters Mrs Melvin Hartgers attending.
Seven Pella residents are among Marion County District Court jurors drawn for the April term. County Clerk Jack Carpenter lists the names including Mrs. Ray Brom and other Pella residents among the 45 jurors designated for jury duty this term.
