Pioneer Sipma letter details voyage to Pella settlement

The Sheldon Mail publishes a translated letter by Sjoerd Sipma from 1840s Holland describing his long voyage to North America. He and fellow Dutch settlers left Pella after a perilous Atlantic crossing, passing Baltimore and St Louis, with notes on canals, farms, and the new Iowa colony founded by Reverend Scholte. He recounts hard work, land prices, livestock, and daily life, ending with greetings to Friesland friends and family.
