Senator Stanley Heaberlin reports Senate Joint Resolution 24 passed 54 to 3 moving to loosen voter residency rules. The amendment would remove fixed residency lengths from the Iowa Constitution, leaving residency standards to legislative statute. The measure faces House approval next session and a public vote.
The Marion County Board of Supervisors met April 8 1967 in regular session with all members present. Actions included approving minutes, a pay raise for Karen LaHue from 230 to 240 a month effective April 1967, canceling several tax sale deeds, and approving an offer of purchase for Bakers Jones action to Knoxville. The auditor’s fees and numerous county fund expenditures were itemized and approved, including welfare and court fund disbursements and per diem, mileage, and extra help costs. The meeting adjourned after routine financial and administrative approvals.
