Conservation work in Mahaska County progresses with 15 waterway jobs finished this year. Projects include five livestock water ponds, three grade stabilization structures, two tile outlet drainage systems, and expansive terrace networks totaling thousands of feet. Paterson reports multiple open ditch and diversion terrace projects completed, with several farms cited for large terrace and water control inlet installations.

On June 15 the Summit Strivers 4 H club met at Evelyn Vanden Dever's home for an all day session. Sandra Vander Linden and Jean Klein spoke on Kinds of Designs with illustrations. Jaci Vanden Dever spoke on Ways to Achieve Emphasis and Rhythm. Vicky Nieuwendorp presented Groom Your Dresser and How I Improve My Storage. Sharon Van Den Re led a talk How to Arrange Furniture. Eight members plus leaders Sharon Van Den Re and Evelyn Vanden Deever attended. After a buffet lunch, the girls worked on their fair projects.
