The CAP program has 12 000 farms in 33 states offering fishing trapping and hiking on 1 069 709 acres mostly in the Midwest. Iowa farmers invested about 18 million dollars in 1967 under the federal ACP to fund soil water and wildlife conservation, with government cost sharing and roughly 9 million dollars reimbursed to farms. The program involved state and county committees, SCS and FS technical services, and numerous erosion control, drainage, forestry, wildlife, and water projects across thousands of acres and farms.

He notes output per cow rose but not enough to offset fewer cows, keeping total production slightly below last year. Prices for fluid milk and manufacturing milk are described, with imports forecast at about one billion pounds this year due to quotas.
