Better Than Average Cotton and Crop Yields Forecast in Texas
Harvesting of cotton grain sorghum corn and peanuts was active last week across Texas. Dr John E Hutchison says yields range from fair to good in the south and south central areas with better than average expected in the plains and west. Small grain planting is active though some delays occur due to soil moisture. Pecan harvest began in South Texas with an early crop outlook but insect and disease damage caused nut shedding. Pastures and ranges are drying though livestock remain in good condition. Ear tick and screwworm infestations noted.
