Toyah and Pecos Organize School Orchestra Under Harp Leadership
The Toyah and Pecos communities launch a school orchestra led by Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Harp with local PTA support. The effort will build studios near the school, secure funding from churches, and aim for a forty to one hundred member ensemble combining Toyah Barstow and Pecos players for concerts.
Toyah Orchestra Grows From Crude Start Under Harp
A beginning ensemble in Toyah shows promising progress with fifteen beginners and several advanced students meeting at the school house. Mr. and Mrs. Harp lead the effort, drawing volunteers from Toyah, Barstow, Pecos, and nearby towns, supported by rail workers and families. The group includes violins, cornet, clarinet, French horn, trombone, bass viol, and cello prospects, with plans for Christmas performances and low student costs.

The River Well is to be cleaned out and sunk to at least 4000 feet with work starting within ninety days. Previously drilled below 3500 feet by Arthur Pitts Co and abandoned after a monkey wrench was lost. Oil showed in the pit, and a new cable is planned to avoid extra costs. Hope remains high for a gusher within days as testing continues.

Amendment to Regulations Governing Cotton Planting
The Commissioner of Agriculture issues circular amending section 9 and adding 9a allowing disinfected cotton seed from Texas west of the Pecos and Ward county to be shipped on permit to oil mills within the state. This change enables local ginners to sell seed in an open market and potentially earn about ten to eleven dollars more per bale than restricted shipments to specific mills.

P T A Ponders School Amateur Club Plans
The P T A met at the school house with Mrs. John Hibdon presiding and approved forming an amateur club linked to the school. Rev J M Garner and Superintendent Norman urged the project in a thorough discussion. They planned to use a nearby building as a studio after repairs, but broken windows and a lack of roof led to abandoning that idea. A local residence was rented for Mr and Mrs Harp of Toyah to run the instruction studio.
