Lawsuit Threatened as Reeves County Forms Appraisal District
Representatives of Reeves County taxing agencies met to resolve the new single appraisal district structure. The Pecos Barstow Toyah Independent School District discussed board composition with the Town of Pecos City and Reeves County officials. The city and county backed a nine member board, while school leaders debated representation and potential employer influence. A special meeting was set for Monday, with Oct 15 as the appointment deadline. The district also considered sale of the Earl Bell School property to the West Texas Economic Development Corporation and potential legal action to stop demolition plans. The board denied a busing request for Tra Park residents and heard a proposal to adjust a Toyah bus stop.
