Pecos Motel Center plan eyed for cultural hub
A Chicago research firm told Pecos residents a 12 000 sq ft civic center near Holiday Inn and Motel 6 could boost motel and restaurant revenue by 118 000 to 132 000 annually and create 6 to 8 jobs. The study recommends 16 000 sq ft with kitchen offices and box offices and a 20 to 25 ft ceiling. A bed tax increase could fund bonds, with 52 000 yearly from a four percent rate and 42 000 reserve for construction interest.
