Ancient El Paso missions tell early Texas tale
The piece traces Ysleta del Sur Socorro del Sur and Seneca del Sur as early Texas missions built by Spaniards and Tigua and Piro Indians around 1681 to 1682, noting Ysleta as Texas oldest building and San Elizario fort chapel linked to Don Juan de Onate, with San Elizario architecture distinct from California missions. Lena Horne and Tony Bennett Do One Hour Songfest
Lena Horne and Tony Bennett headline a one hour ABC special in London taped earlier this year. The duo deliver superb performances on standards like Just in Time Watch What Happens and My Funny Valentine though the show’s set and British band lack energy. Critics praise the singing but fault the production and orchestration for dull backing.
