AMC 1974 Cars Get Interlock Three Point Belt System
Detroit August 2 1974 American Motors passenger cars will standardize a three point lap and shoulder belt with interlock. The system uses Auto-Loc lap belts and an inertia reel shoulder harness and requires belt connection to start the car. It meets Federal Safety Standard 208 and features a buzzer and red warning light for unfastened belts. An under dash logic module senses occupancy and belt status to trigger warnings. An overridable interlock exists for malfunctions.
