Amendment No 6 would expand the 65 plus tax exemption to include city county and school districts and exempt $3000 or more of homestead value from local taxes for residents over 65. If not approved by the local governing body a petition by 20 percent of last election voters could force a referendum. The sponsors say it protects seniors on fixed incomes from heavy ad valorem tax.
A North Vietnamese spokesman in Paris said the peace agreement with the United States should be signed next Tuesday and that Hanoi negotiators are ready to meet Henry Kissinger again. Nguyen Thanh Le claimed the date was set by President Nixon and dismissed talk of a misunderstanding.
