Carr-Osorio fraud case taken under advisement
A federal judge in Dallas deferred ruling after hearing arguments in the Carr Osorio stock fraud case. Texas Attorney General Waggoner Carr and ex Insurance Commissioner John Osorio claim indictments are politically motivated, alleging Republican leaders aimed to topple Texas Democrats. The judge ordered briefs by next Wednesday and replies by October 16, noting the political motive issue was largely developed. Subpoenas for Sen. John Tower and George Willeford were not testified due to Tower’s congressional duties.

FBI says governor involved in fraud
The FBI states former Texas Governor Preston Smith was deeply involved in the Sharpstown stock fraud conspiracy but took steps to protect himself.
