In Dallas County jail a three and a half hour disturbance left one prisoner dead Lawrence Edward Jackson 36 and injuries to five prisoners and several guards. About 300 inmates participated with fights and property damage as guards used water hoses to regain control and many inmates were sent to solitary confinement.

Police found three boys ages 13 to 15 hiding in a Rotary field broadcast booth after reports of glass on Missouri Street. They admitted removing reflectors from four school buses breaking outside mirrors and removing distributor caps along with stealing drinks. Damage estimated at 450 dollars with parents agreeing to pay 150 dollars each before the youths were released.
About 500 guests are expected tonight at a dinner honoring U S Senator John Tower of Texas in El Paso where Vice President Spiro Agnew will speak He is to arrive from Washington around 4 p m MDT for the border city event.
President Nixon will send Henry Kissinger and a traveling party to Peking later this month to make concrete arrangements for a Nixon visit to Communist China. The White House said Kissinger will meet Premier Chou En Lai and discuss possible dates for the trip planned before May. The party includes Alfred Jenkins Winston Lord and John Holdridge.
The House General Investigating Committee meets Thursday without the scheduled testimony of Gus Mutscher tied to two banking bills in his bribery indictment. Chairman Menton Murray aims to set policy and direction for future hearings and will consider whether to call more legislators. He noted the panel may reveal facts if work ends early but does not expect to finish before Mutscher's trial.
D’Anndra Davis 17, PECOS High senior and Pecos Chamber of Commerce sponsor, aims for the Texas Junior Miss crown in January. The state pageant offers over 10,060 in prizes led by 3,600 to the winner. The Texan winner advances to Mobile, Alabama for nationals. Davis is active in band, choir, Junior Sensations, Tri-K Juniorette and honors clubs. She plays piano and guitar and enjoys swimming, twirling and painting.
Police report a burglary at Sammy Lee Burleson's home at 1907 Ivey Street in Burleson on Monday. Entry was through an unlocked window while Burleson was at work. thieves took men's and women's clothing, lamps, a barbecue grill, and an electric iron. Footprints were found leading away from the scene.
