Vocational training facilities planned for Pecos High School
Pecos schools Superintendent Ray Whitley announced two new vocational training buildings at Pecos High School campus will be finished by February 1973. The $1,256,000 project adds six classrooms and a full restaurant setup for home economics and CVAE, plus workshops for agriculture, auto, metal, electrical, and building trades. Cooper Construction of Odessa built the structures designed by Covington Shelton and Taylor.

Mild autumn weather persists across Texas panhandle to coast
The pattern stays mild and dry with a stalled cool front breaking up across the Panhandle. Tuesday saw highs around 88 and a late-night low near 56 as showers grazed the Gulf east of Corpus Christi and south of Galveston. Daybreak temps ranged from 51 in Dalhart to 71 at Corpus Christi, while afternoon highs reached 90 in Alice, El Paso and McAllen.

Pecos Eagle Band Boosters voted in special session Monday night to sell fruit cakes as a fund raising project. Members meet at the high school home ec room Saturday to cut samples for orders door to door and in business places. Cakes feature fruits and nut meats with simple batter. Prices range 3.90 to 9.45 with 2 to 5 pound sizes. Proceeds fund band programs in Pecos High School and junior highs.
