The Peshtigo disaster killed more than 1,200 people and destroyed 1,000 square miles of timber. Betty Thomas Dies in Alpine Area Car Crash
Mrs. Betty Thomas wife of Pecos High School coach James Thomas was killed in a one car crash 13 miles north of Alpine on State Highway 118 at 8 10 this morning. She was alone in a 1969 Ford Falcon hit a rock wall then fell into a ravine and died en route to Brewster County Memorial Hospital. She had been attending classes at Sul Ross University. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Redistricting Board Hears Mix of Single and Multi Member Districts

Mrs. Margaret Prewit dies in Pecos at 92
Longtime Pecos resident Mrs. Margaret Lena Prewit 92 died Thursday evening at Pecos Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born May 7 1879 she came to Pecos in 1889 from Fredricksburg Texas. Funeral services are set for Saturday 10 am at Pecos Funeral Home chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery. She is survived by three sons six daughters 24 grandchildren 49 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren plus a brother Nick Ritz Pecos and a sister Ida Goedeke Jal New Mexico.
