Mild southerly winds lift Texas through mild day
Early today a warm southerly breeze settles over Texas with partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures centered from the Panhandle to the coast. The National Weather Service notes scattered offshore showers near Brownsville before dawn and a slight chance of light rain along the lower Coastal Plains later. Predawn readings ranged from 40s to 50s in the Panhandle and 60s elsewhere, 73 on Galveston Island.

Four Americans die as chopper collisions in war zone
SAIGON AP A pair of U S helicopters collided 70 miles northwest of Saigon during refueling after an operation. Four Americans and six South Vietnamese died, with five Americans and three South Vietnamese injured. A third UH1 crashed earlier from mechanical failure. casualties reported. Dallas Teen Dies in Park Shootout Nar cotics Dispute
At Lee Park in Dallas an 18 year old from Atlanta Gregory Williams was shot in the mouth with a .22 pistol and died. A 17 year old was arrested after Williams allegedly pulled a pistol and took all of his cash and narcotics including cocaine valued at 500 dollars. Donovan Fisher 19 of Carrollton was hit in the hand by a stray bullet as several hundred ran from the scene.
