Lucius D. Bunton of Odessa won the statewide vote to become President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas defeating O F Jones of Victoria. He will assume office after the June convention in San Antonio as current President-Elect J Chris Dougherty becomes president. Bunton is a Shafer Gilliland Davis Bunton McCollum partner and former board chair.
Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts are invited to camp at Mitre Peak in the Fort Davis Mountains this summer. The program runs from first grade through high school with swimming, adventures on a Conestoga wagon, outdoor cooking and sports. A Reed Rock Bit Co. drilling activity survey shows West Texas and Southeast New Mexico with 226 rigs this week, down from 229, and a year ago 286. Reeves County holds at two rigs, Lea County NM leads with 29, Eddy County up to 27, Pecos and Ward counties each have 14, Yoakum and Crockett gain to 12 and 10 respectively.
