EPJH band under Darrell Carr won first place in concert and sight reading at Sanderson May Music Festival. Comstock and Sanderson junior highs placed in various divisions with multiple solo and ensemble wins. The East Pecos group will perform May 25 at 7 30 p.m. in the high school auditorium with ticket sales at the door.

A moonlight treasure hunt is set for Friday May 26 by the Pecos Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee. Pecos stores will offer prizes matching numbers stamped on copies of Thursday's Pecos Enterprise. Readers must bring their paper to participating stores from 7 to 9 p.m. for a chance to win.

Men charged with theft in Pecos purse-snatching
Pecos City Police chased and captured two 18 year old men David E Gill and Lewis V Stanton along with a juvenile after a purse was snatched from Mary Hadaway. The purse was recovered intact from a trash barrel. All three face theft charges.

Connally resigns as U S Treasury secretary
President Nixon announced the resignation of Secretary of the Treasury John B. Connally after 18 months in office. He named George P. Shultz to replace Connally at Treasury and Caspar Weinberger to move to OMB. Connally, a former Navy secretary and Texas governor wounded in 1963, said he has no political ambitions but did not rule out a future role in the campaign.
