WPA Work Begins at Fairview Cemetery

Rotary officials heard Walter N. White and A. H. Dunlap urge Texas to fund its $15,000 annual portion of a Pecos watershed survey. New Mexico has already pledged $30,000. The study, costing about $400,000 with federal support, would guide a future Texas New Mexico water pact and cover salinity, water resources, groundwater, flood damage, and development along the Pecos and its tributaries. James Totter bought a 40 acre Saragosa area farm from Mrs. A L Schloemer with funds to remodel the house and barn. Loans up to 5000 at 5 percent are available for farming equipment or livestock. emergency feed and crop loans are also offered through the Farm Credit Administration. Reeves County ranchers learn deferred grazing under the 1939 range program will begin June 1. Lester Young confirms dates in replies to queries from County Agent Ted Johnston. Ranchers to Hear Plans Discussed Saturday Meeting
Ranchers owning land wholly or partly within the Toyah Creek Watershed are to gather Saturday at 10 o clock to hear plans for proposed development. The new Cactus Theatre will open in early April with a grand opening planned. Contractor Al Hutts is to hand over the building to management around the first of the month. G. T. Fannin and J. B. Cunningham assist in finalizing plans for music speeches and features. M. A. Sanders of Lubbock heads the theatre company with several Dellas leaders expected for the event. The facility will feature the latest equipment, comfortable seating, year round air conditioning, and modern heating, with contracts to RKO Columbia Republic Monogram and Grand National pictures.

Farmers urged to re apply for loan in Reeves county
Farmers who failed to obtain Farm Security Administration loans earlier in the year were urged to renew applications at the Reeves county courthouse offices this week. Fred C. Wilbanks announced additional staff and that money would be available for every eligible farm family. Loans will cover a broad range from small Eastern farm setups to large Western operators needing thousands of dollars to lease grass land or stock it. Loans go to those lacking adequate financing elsewhere, with a sound farm and home management plan showing how the family will grow most of its own food and repay over one to five years.
