Medal honors Chilkat Indian
The 86th art medal by The Society of Medalists honors the Chilkat Indians of the Tlingit tribe in southeastern Alaska. Sculptor John Edward Svenson designed it, with a ceremonial chief and Klukwan House mask on the reverse. A silver program to reproduce early bronze medals is planned for 1973 with silver and bronze memberships available.
