Kennedy critics wary as Carter health plan faces fight
President Carter’s proposal to cap a family health bill at 2500 dollars aims for Medicare Medicaid fusion with a 1983 cost estimate of 23 to 25 billion dollars. Kennedy calls it inflationary and inequitable while other Democrats praise the effort but seek broader reform. Hearings and votes on national health insurance are set for 1980, with political maneuvering shaping the debate.
