Fire damages Pecos cafe at Alamo Cafe corner
Fire struck the Alamo Cafe at Sixth and Pecan Streets in Pecos causing extensive damage to the front of the restaurant. Owner Jose phine Martinez said the blaze began around 1 am and likely started in an electrical sign or an ice machine motor. The front wood counter and ice machine were burned, with smoke and water damage. the fire did not reach the cafe’s adjoining apartment or interior areas beyond the front. The cafe will be closed until cleanup is complete.

Court says clubs can exclude black guests
The Supreme Court upheld the right of private clubs to exclude Negroes as guests at the Moose Lodge in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. In a 6 to 3 decision Justice William H.
