Pecos Sought as Common Freight Point by Burford
F W Burford of Burford Oil asks Texas Railway Commission to designate Pecos as a common point to lower differential freight rates on oil and other commodities. He argues Pecos now ships large tonnage and merits parity with Midland and Big Spring. Santa Fe already offers fair oil rates from Pecos and a five day Chicago service. Automobile deniers also push for Pecos common point status citing Michigan to Pecos car charges. Burford says the commission may rule favorable if evidence is strong.
