Evacuation of Tal Zaatar Hit by Heavy Shelling
Heavy shelling delayed the evacuation of wounded from the Tal Zaatar refugee camp and halted the plan for a buffer zone manned by Arab League peace troops. A 15 truck Red Cross convoy was sent toward the besieged camp as a temporary cease-fire began, but shells rained down on the convoy route. Swiss Red Cross official Jegan Hoefliger said renewed attempts would be made if the truce fails, with about 1,000 wounded inside Tal Zaatar awaiting extraction and gravely ill prioritized for release.

Wild Mustang Adoption Seen As Unstable Solution
In Grand Junction Colorado the federal government promotes an Adopt a Horse program to curb mustang overpopulation under the 1971 Wild Horse and Burro Act. Officials note 80 to 90 percent of horses are extremely wild and can be dangerous, making adoption risky for both animals and owners. The absence of natural predators, aside from occasional mountain lion attacks, contributes to population growth. Some conservationists argue for natural population control rather than continued expansion.
