Open discussion seeks to open papal election process

A group of influential Catholics forms the Committee for the Responsible Election of the Pope to push for public scrutiny of papal selection. They publish profiles of cardinals, launch Conclave Confidential, and plan computer simulations to map likely papal choices beyond the usual secret conclave. The effort includes scholars, editors, and clergy aiming to expand ecumenical involvement and light on this traditionally secret process.
