Wright given a year term and others jailed for smuggling
Curtis Ross Wright, 31, was sentenced last month to five years for conspiring to smuggle marijuana into the United States. He pled guilty before U. S. Dist. Judge Ernest Guinn in El Paso. Also sentenced were Maria Rentoria Castillo, Celia Galindo de Flores, and Fernando Renteria for their roles in smuggling about 468 pounds of marijuana in March. The women received five years with six months in prison and rest on supervised probation. Renteria got five years.

The Pecos Produce Company employs 36 laborers to sort bag and load onions for shipment from a Pecos warehouse beside the railroad. They ship about 5,900 bags daily, primarily to the Northeast and Eastern Seaboard. Spokesmen say harvest runs June through August with 250,000 bags targeted, 115,000 shipped so far, and trucks and trains used as needed.
