FBI confronts hijacked jet in San Francisco killing two attackers
FBI agents stormed a Pacific Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 after two hijackers seized the masked flight. Shots killed both hijackers. three passengers were wounded and one later died. A crew of five and 81 passengers remained aboard as authorities ended the six hour ordeal.

A Pecos Chamber of Commerce meeting led by Ray Whitley will gather ministers, senior citizens, and officials at the chamber board room on Wednesday July 12 at 10 30 a m. to discuss compiling data on Pecos seniors for Governor Smith's aged planning program. S B Hunt water and sewerage superintendent for Pecos and Alfred M Gomez sanit arian have been named to direct the water pollution control and abatement program required by S B 835 which orders cities of 5000 population or more to establish such programs on a local basis. Administered by the Texas Water Quality Board local programs have been established in the 217 Texas cities to which the law applies. Meetings with city officials were held by TWQB officials earlier in the system and sculpture. Investigating Pecos Police Officer Lt Jim Wilson gave neither party a ticket and no injuries were reported.

Pecos Municipal Airport serves diverse needs from pilots weather reports to crop dusting and service for vacationers and U S Army helicopters. It features three runways, a large hangar and 29 smaller hangars, fuel capacity, and on site maintenance plans. The airport operates without a control tower and relies on local fire, police and Civil Air Patrol for security. Fiscal 1972-73 upkeep is slated at 17875 with revenues projected at 29975 from hangar rent and land sales. The city bought land in 1942 from the U S Army Air Corps which operated here until 1947.
