Coast Guard seized the Soviet 362 foot Lamut and 278 foot Kalyvan after a four hour chase in ice near St Matthew Island. The Lamut tied to break away while moored for unloading with Americans aboard. The Storis fired a warning shot but no shots were fired.

MIG jets fire on bombers near the Laotian border

County approves buying five new trucks and pickup
County Commissioners approved purchasing five new trucks and a half ton pickup at the last meeting. H M Truck and Tractor bid nine million two hundred two thousand one hundred thirty eight dollars and Crow Chevrolet’s bid for the pickup was accepted. Villalon guilty in car theft in Pecos
A nine woman three man jury found Pedro Villalon guilty of theft over 50 dollars in 143rd District Court. The 1960 Chevrolet owned by Jim Brammer was stolen Feb 15 at the Las Palmas Cafe. Brammer testified Villalon drove away, chased, and the car was recovered. Officer Robert Diaz arrested the suspect soon after.

County voter registration slow urges fast sign up
