Baseball draft drips with slow summer pace and small hopes
The January amateur draft yields few immediate stars as Toronto and other teams rely on farm systems and scouting. Elliot Wahle notes baseball’s talent gap compared with basketball and football, while Peter Bavasi outlines Toronto’s plan to build through minor leagues and careful trades. The top prospect is Michael Lebo, a 19 year old catcher from Middletown PA, with projects including Jim Maler and David Greir. The piece emphasizes signability and long term development over instant impact.
