FBI probes new leaks tied to Kissinger NSC

Ward County attorney seeks DA position

Monahans attorney Larry Fuller filed today for the district attorney post covering Loving Reeves and Ward Counties. A 45 year old lawyer with 15 years practice, he previously led the U S Attorney’s Office in El Paso and later practiced in Midland before establishing his Monahans firm.

Explosion damages apartment at 210 West 14th Street

An explosion blamed on a hot water heater destroyed an apartment duplex at 210 W 14th St. No residents were home. The owner is Mrs. Carl Eddins of 511 W Eddy St. Insurance places the damage at about 2500 dollars. Fire marshal Wadley cites subfreezing temps and pressure in pipes as possible causes. The blast tore a hole in the ceiling and a roof cavity. adjacent unit also suffered heavy damage. Dr Don Hunt of Midland College will speak at Pecos High School on Jan 16 at 6 pm about night courses for spring enrollment.

Texas vehicle license renewal forms mailed for 1972 plates

The Motor Vehicle Division of the Texas Highway Department dispatched the first of about 7.5 million renewal forms from Dallas on Dec 31. Owners should expect mail- order license plates early in January with processing starting Feb 1 at county tax offices.

Girl Survivor Reaches Safety After Peru Crash

Juliane Koepcke, 17, the daughter of German ornithologists, survived a Christmas Eve airliner crash in the Peruvian jungle. She wandered for days, built a raft to reach a woodcutter camp, then was flown to a mission center near Pucallpa and reunited with her father. Her mother remains missing. 91 others perished.
