First day to apply for absentee ballot by mail is March 5. April 15 marks the first day for absentee voting in person. April 24 to 26 is the period for filing campaign expenses. April 30 is the last day for absentee voting by personal appearance. May 4 is the first primary election. May 7 is the canvass of returns. County convention follows.
Big Bend AA Hosts Fourth Annual Open Meeting
The Big Bend Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous held its fourth annual Open Meeting at Sul Ross College Little Theatre in Fort Davis on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. A pre-event seminar occurred Saturday in Marfa at the Chamber of Commerce office from 2 to 4 pm.

Pecos Volunteer Firefighters Battle Grass Blaze Near Barstow
The Pecos Volunteer Fire Department answered a call four miles east of Barstow to a grass fire at a roadside park. The crew fought the blaze from 5:56 p.m. and returned to the station at 6:32 p.m.
