A W Bryant Breaks Leg At Red Bluff Dam

Paving Planned For Summer On Highway No 17 South of Saragosa
Work to surface five and a quarter miles of highway No 17 with caliche base began this week near Saragosa. Grading and drainage on two miles are done and six weeks are needed to complete the caliche base before black topping in summer. Project supervised from Pecos under the maintenance department. Completion will leave seven miles unpaved between Pecos and Balmorhea and may lead to further straightening and surfacing.

Reeves County Bonds to Finance New County Court House
Reeves county voters approved a 120000 bond issue for a new county court house. Only 348 for and 24 against amid a light turnout with pockets like Pecos and Balmorhea voting heavily for. Construction start date and architect selection await commission review after bond sale with four and one fourth percent interest and a 1400.11 cash bonus.

City Decorated With Four Hundred Lights
Fourteen strings of colored lights totaling about 400 lights were purchased and strung across the main business streets last week. Thirty-one Pecos firms donated to the fund to buy the lights costing about $150. The city council voted to defray the current lighting costs and the lights will remain property of the town for future use with possible additions.
Mrs. I. K. Webb Opens Dining Room Venture
Mrs. I. K. Webb announced the purchase of the dining room across from the Wes Tex hotel from Mrs. J. B. Files and assumed management on December 22. Webb, former Orient dining room owner praised for home cooked meals, invites all to visit the new establishment.

Charity Distribution By Pecos Scouts And Lions Club
Thursday distribution in Pecos will give food clothing and toys to the needy. Two Pecos Boy Scout troops join with the Lions Club led by Floyd Brownlee to assist acute cases as committees found limited number of truly needy families. Funds from the Lions Major Bozo's Amateur Hour at the Grand Theatre cover food and clothing purchases with repairs and repainting of toys handled by the Scouts.

City taxes due January 1 with eight percent penalty

80 Year Old Pecos Citizen Dies Here
Funeral services were held Saturday for John W Williams a retired farmer who died at his son's home in Pecos. Born in Ireland October 8 1856 he lived in Pecos area 15 years. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery with Rev A C Douglas officiating. The Enterprise extends condolences to the bereaved.

Charles J. Murray aged 43 died Sunday from bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Catherine Church conducted by Father L de Bruyere. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery. Murray came to Pecos eight months ago and built the Hilcrest tourist camp into a noted hotel.
