Two Children Identified in Shrimp Trawler Hijack
Two of three children found aboard the hijacked shrimp trawler were identified as Maya Boland, 6, and Billy Boland, 4, who were abducted December 8 from an Ohio foster home. Royce Boland of San Diego, California, was one of two men killed when the hijackers seized control of the vessel near Texas. The hijackers forced Captain Ray Penland to steer toward Campache Mexico, while one used a sawed off shotgun. The gunmen escaped after a confrontation. the FBI has ordered silence. The wounded woman, Rhonda Schultz, underwent surgery for a hip wound.

In four weeks since the proposed Monahans Business School, 75 residents expressed interest via the chamber of commerce. A Dallas office rep will visit likely January or February. Also, Pecos area residents are urged to contact the chamber for course details and start dates. Window service at Pecos Post Office will run 10 am to 12 noon Friday with no Christmas Day mail. A midnight Mass and crib blessing at Saint Catherine's Catholic Church will precede with carols at 11:45 pm led by Father Edward Sullivan. Eight to ten hunters seek a 1972 Trans Pecos hunting license via Harold Meyer at the chamber. The Western Auctioneers band will perform on High Noon on KOSA TV Thursday.

Washington AP The Price Commission announced guidelines for residential rents with Grayson estimating 1972 increases averaging 3 to 3.5 percent. The rules allow possible tenant relief or hikes up to 15 percent or more, or rollback, depending on circumstances. Rose Wylie of the National Tenants Organization condemned them as a boon for landlords and harmful to tenants, predicting inflationary jumps and up to 30 percent rises in some cases. Two rent sets apply: monthly weekly rentals use Aug 15 to Nov 14 price freeze data. long term leases use average new leases or renewals before the freeze.

Three members of the Wickett family were injured in a one car crash on Interstate 20, 19 miles west of Toyah. Mrs Maria Adams 17 in critical condition in Odessa Medical Center Hospital.
