Congress passed and sent to President Nixon a sweeping health and safety bill covering all employees in firms engaged in interstate commerce. AFL-CIO President George Meany called the passage a long step toward a safe and healthy workplace in America.
The Army states a preliminary probe found no evidence that the U.S. military spied on Illinois Senator, a congressman, or a former governor amid allegations of surveillance.
