Storms Trigger Floods Across Texas Front Moves On

Nixon moves to sign $15.8 billion tax cut bill
Congress sent to President Nixon a bill cutting taxes for businesses and individuals by 15.8 billion dollars over three years and refunds of about 200 dollars to 3 to 4 million auto buyers are expected if it becomes law. The Senate approved 71 to 6 after House 320 to 74. The measure repeals the 7 percent auto excise tax and raises personal exemptions, changing withholdings for many taxpayers next year.

Pecos Christmas Club Savings Hit New High
About $6,500 in Christmas Club savings were mailed to 45 Pecos residents by Security State Bank. The bank runs the only Christmas savings plan in Pecos, with 32 new members signed for 1972. Deposits range from 50 cents to $10 weekly, biweekly, or monthly over a 50 week period, with no interest.
