In ideal weather Thursday night the UMAC nativity float placed third with a snowman waving from a striped North Pole as Rudolph the red nosed reindeer stood nearby. Judging panel included Mrs. J J Maxey Mrs T C Sis Slack and Pete Fuentes of KOSA TV with scores 23 22 and 21. Crowds lined the street as the Eagle band played in the festive atmosphere.

Bids set next week on FM 3334 near Verhalen Reeves County
The Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation will receive bids December 8 and 9 for an FM road project in Reeves County. The work on FM 3334 runs 5.1 miles west of SH 17 to SH 17, replacing a county road with 20 foot asphalt and four foot shoulders. The project, first of two linking SH 17 with FM 2903 near Verhalen, is supervised by District Engineer August H. Pearson Jr. and engineer in charge Bob Monteith.

Gas supply system may keep farming solvent
Mike Burkholder, president of the new Trans-Pecos Gas Co., says the Delhi sold system will assure farmers of gas through December and cut costs. The deal lowers prices to farmers, saving Reeves County about 400000, as Delhi continues to supply lines through December and seeks cheaper gas.
