The Enterprise launches a new back page feature titled Cattle after, by Jesse McKee of the Mentone Monitor. The City Federation of Women's Clubs led by Mrs H H Johnson spearheads a major park redevelopment in Pecos. A barren lot will become a hedge bordered playground with native stone lodge and fireplace, wading pool for children, shrubbery, trees and a fully sodded grassy playing area.
Pecos city council voted to buy three Drummond lots on Cypress street for a city hall site with a 2400 cap, contingent on clear title. If title fails, Sparks lots at Fourth and Cypress become second choice, amid disputes over previous Pecos Mercantile Co. purchases.
A large crowd watched Pecos Eaglets junior team defeat Big Spring Junior 18 to 0 to clinch the West Texas Junior Football championship. The Pecos high school team then beat Rankin 6 to 0 on Thursday.
Judge J E Starley announced that Chapman and Cutler of Chicago approved the Red Bluff bonds and legal setup. An immediate election on the $2,600,000 bond issue will be ordered, with bonds voted and printed then federal funds issued in their place. Construction work could begin by January 1.
A. M. Steele, Pecos post office clerk, is in critical condition in a Brenham hospital after a car accident last Friday en route to Baton Rouge. He had been transferred from Baton Rouge a year ago. His wife traveled from Baton Rouge to Brenham to be with him as friends in Pecos pray for recovery.
The Postal Telegraph Co office moved this week from the Patterson building on Oak street to a room on the south side of Hotel Brandon. The office opened for business here on Friday of this week. The attractive south company has office space adjoining the hotel entrance.
The Texas Highway Department announced a new bridge on Highway 82 between Ward and Pecos counties near Grandfalls to replace a washed out structure. Fitzpatrick Construction Company of Austin submitted the low bid of 24 758.86, with work to begin after approval by the Federal Bureau of Public Roads.
The City of Pecos was ordered to vacate its municipal building this week after M. W. Collie, appointed as Site Custodian by the Treasury Department, initiated action. The city moved to remove fire apparatus and equipment, with Treasury guidance suggesting early government action on the structure and possible release of Pecos project details soon.
Colloidal Plant Foods Co Inc launches immediate development of dormant sulphur deposits in Reeves and Culberson counties. J M Wood of Henderson Texas and son H D Wood arrive to supervise moving in machinery and establish a plant at the old Michigan mine site. Plant aims to produce scientific fertilizer and soil restorer from local sulphur compounds, with several thousand dollars in machinery already shipped and twelve workers to be hired. Charles Nicolls is among local supporters of the project.
Highway Engineer LB Finley and staff moved into the new Pecos division office on the Bankhead highway. The warehouse-style building, erected by the department, cost 10009 dollars and will attract families and visitors to confer with Finley on highway matters.
Rev. FE H. Ratliff, pastor of the Baptist church, is in Presidio this week conducting a revival for local Baptists. He will conclude the meeting Friday night and return home to fill his pulpit Sunday. A very successful meeting is reported from Presidio.
The Eaglets defeated Big Spring in a return game on Wednesday at home. Richards connected a 20 yard pass to Lybrand for a 30 yard run and score. In the final minute Joe Bob Kelton sprinted 15 yards to the Big Spring one foot line before Richards plunged in for six.
Representative R E Thomason telegraphed Pecos Chamber of Commerce that he pressed the Federal Land Bank officials in Houston to improve farm loan access for Reeves and Ward county farmers. He said bank officials offered no commitment but heard the case and rejected discrimination against local people.
Carlos Chacon lies in bed with a broken left leg and dislocated hip after a recent car crash. Dr. Hilliard Camp uses a steel brace placing each leg in a cast and clamping them immovably, so the healthy right leg acts as the splint for the injured left. The left leg heals rapidly under this arrangement.
Judge J B Woolfolk and the commissioners' court authorized the purchase of 10 000 worth of the county's bonds. The sinking fund invested in county securities at 90 cents on the dollar produced a net saving of 1000 plus 550 annual interest. Bonds sold at 100 and bought back at 90 save 160 per 1000. The sinking fund receives 55 per year at 6 12 percent. The group aims to retire further issues with the sinking fund.

Veteran barber B Roller announces a new three chair shop opening Friday December first in the City Pharmacy building on Second Street. Alvin Liegd will join him and the shop promises first class work in Wink Borger Mid and other places.
The Trades and Labor Assembly in Pecos, a new group of about 100 members, aims to improve wages and highway work benefits. They report carpenters earning 1.00 per hour under NRA rules, road workers at 0.75, and common labor at 0.40, with a 0.75 rate for aged or disabled carpenters.
Thanksgiving was observed in Pecos with locals returning home and others remaining away. The Pecos Rankin football game drew crowds and several family reunions occurred during the day and afternoon festivities.
At Pecos high school Wednesday Lions and Rotary held a joint meeting with Thanksgiving as the theme. Home economics students served a turkey dinner supervised by Miss Harris. Miss Neil Chism gave a reading and T Y Casey spoke on Thanksgiving history and current gratitude. Guy E Walker and Jack Hawkins presided.
A joint service brought together Methodist Baptist Christian and Presbyterian congregations at First Christian Church on Wednesday evening. Rev Carlton Wade of the Methodist church spoke on Obligations for Thanksgiving and delivered a thorough presentation.
