Sniper surrenders after 12 hour siege in Abilene
A gunman who held police at bay for more than 12 hours after a 16 year old was shot died, as John J. Allen surrendered early today. Witnesses said Allen left unarmed after tear gas. Neville Ray King died from a head wound. Allen had been a WWII veteran with 100 percent disability benefits and a brother urged him to give up.

Cyclist Injured In Atlanta Area Motorcycle Truck Crash
In an incident 10 miles south of Orla late Sunday cyclist William Taylor suffered multiple fractures and lacerations after his motorcycle struck a disabled truck. He was admitted to Memorial hospital after an ambulance transport. DPS trooper Hugh Lillie said Taylor swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle and hit the parked truck.
