New Impact Resistant Eyeglass Lenses Demand
The FDA mandates lenses fitted after January 1 1972 be impact resistant defined as not shattering under a 5/8 inch steel ball dropped from 50 inches. No lens is unbreakable but impact resistant types offer far greater protection and reduce lens replacements. Upgrading lenses can also accompany new frame styles.
