Remodeling of the United States Post Office is progressing on schedule. Bibb Construction Company of Wichita Falls leads a $179000 project with foreman Hossinger. Work began in May and should finish within nine months to handle the Christmas mail rush. A new dock, 3 by 16 inch pilings, doubles loading space and temporary lobby slots give way to final centralized placement. Morrison plans a new office for the postmaster and a separate one for the assistant. Old offices will become a box bay with 1256 boxes and more to come. Complete rewiring and strip lighting upgrade the building.

Funding increases for Permian Basin Planned Parenthood
Governor Preston Smith announced approval of a $53,403 community action grant to Permian Basin Planned Parenthood in Odessa for Family Planning under Title II of the Economic Opportunity Act. Castillo Loses Sentence Appeal
Gene Castillo aged 39 lost an appeal to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals this week and will be transported to Huntsville penitentiary. He challenged a life sentence imposed in Pecos by Judge J. H. Starley after a 143rd District Court habitual criminal conviction. Castillo has spent 20 months in Reeves County jail awaiting the decision.
