Summers Drive Polio Cases In Texas In 1934

State Health Officer Dr John W Brown says infantile paralysis is largely a summer disease similar to typhoid fever and bowel disorders in infants. Since January 1 1934 Texas has reported 41 poliomyelitis cases with July September and October seeing the most. Direct human contact spreads the illness while insect transmission remains unproven. Early symptoms include headache fever vomiting and neck stiffness. Prompt care and reporting enable preventive measures and ongoing rehabilitation requires continued professional guidance and patience.
