Mail service survey shows improved delivery
The AP survey of postal service tests from 1971 to 1973 finds improved local and intercity delivery on average, but persistent delays for individual letters. Eight in ten local items meet next day service, while air mail averages fell from 2.1 to 1.8 days though with outliers. Zip coded letters tended to arrive sooner but patterns varied.
