Cosmonauts Prepare Rendezvous With Salute Station

Three Soviet cosmonauts aboard Soyuz 10 launched from Baikonur to orbit around 154 miles high to link with the unmanned Salute station launched four days earlier. Kaminski of Bochum predicted one or two more crafts to join Soyuz 10 and Salute, with launch possible tonight or Saturday. The mission appears a rehearsal, not a plan for a manned orbital lab.

Court May Indicate Segregation Policy

The Supreme Court may signal future direction on school desegregation by deciding whether to hear Cincinnati and Chicago suburb cases alongside Southern cases. Cincinnati seeks a single desegregation standard for all public schools amid many white and black dominated schools. Chicago-Cook County follows federal orders to restructure to achieve integration. The court recently approved mass busing and attendance-zone redrawing as tools to dismantle dual systems, hinting at Northward civil rights impact.
