Eaglets Take Second at Kermit Track Meet
West Pecos seventh grade Eaglet track team finished second with 61.5 points behind Kermit’s 124. Juan Sandoval led with firsts in broad jump shot put and 220 yard dash. David Melendez won the 120 yard low hurdles in 16.2. Others included David Dominguez third in broad jump John Cramer sixth in shot put Cliff David fourth in whinning and Abila and Dominguez tying for high jump. Robert Van Wickle was sixth in the 220 yard dash.

Eagle Queens Take Second In District Volleyball Standings
The Pecos Eagle Queens finish second in district 2-3A behind Monahans. Monahans led with a 9-1 record, Pecos 6-4, Seminole 5-5, Kermit 4-6, and Fort Stockton and Andrews tied at 3-7.

In the 75 yard dash a competitor finished third and another fifth while Dominguez was sixth in the 66 yard run. Pecos took third in the 880 relay. The team included Sanchez, Sandoval, Melen dez, Abila, Dominguez, Van Wickle, Raymond Gonzales and Mike Neely.

Hornets 7th Take Third at Kermit Meet
East Pecos Hornet seventh graders won third place at Kermit on Saturday. Jesse Rayos led with a 75 yard dash in 9.3 seconds. Tony Matta won the discus. Rayos, Chavez, Lara, Vasquez and Florez contributed in sprints, jumps, and relays as the team posted notable times and placements.

Sul Ross Rodeo Set to Begin April 11
The Sul Ross intramural rodeo runs April 11-12 in the college arena with 2 p.m. starts each day. Men compete in tie-down and ribbon roping, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc, bareback, and bull riding while women’s events include steer riding, steer undercoating, flag and barrel races and breakaway roping. Charlie Thompson of Lubbock provides stock. fraternities enter calf dressing and sororities goat sack races. Admission is $1 for adults and college students and 50 cents for juniors and high school students.
