Pecos Paves Streets and Secures Soft Water 1927 29
In Pecos during 1927 to 1929 the City Council moved toward asphalt paving contacting Montgomery and Ward for estimates on business street paving. The period saw many building permits, including the Plaza Hotel and the Graham/Brandon Hotel. The city modernized ordinances, opened bids for 16 blocks of Warranite paving, and secured a 25 year natural gas franchise. By 1929 Pecos began soft water negotiations with the university, resulting in a lease to obtain soft water.

Mrs. Bette Cutcher of Pecos writes to remind readers that while hundreds of private homeowners were cited for trash disposal, local builders also contribute unsightly and dangerous litter.
