Payson Men Arrested in $5,000 Burglary
Two Payson youths, Cary Clauson age 19 and Raymond McCoy age 18, were arrested by Phoenix detectives with Payson sheriff help for the G S R Metals burglary at 31 South 42nd Place. McCoy, once employed at G S R Metals, allegedly recruited Clauson to steal barrels of chemicals containing gold silver and copper.

Payson Drug robbery yields four to six year term
Craig B. Compton, 21, of Payson received a four to six year sentence in Gila County for possession of stolen property after a Sept. 28 Rexall Drug burglary in Payson. Deputies arrested him the same day. six 15 gallon drums of metals and six silver bars were recovered. Clauson and McCoy were stopped near the company in Phoenix and faced additional charges. preliminary hearings followed in Phoenix.

Phoenix man killed in crash near Heber
A young Phoenix man died Friday in a head on collision east of Heber. His wife, Charlotte, and another passenger were seriously injured. Mark R. Jarman, 19, was riding with his wife when a Van Nuys California driver Charles E. McGee allegedly crossed the centerline at about 95 mph.

DPS cites intoxicated driver in Payson area crash
McGee was driving while intoxicated. He and Mrs. Jarmen were hospitalized after a three vehicle crash five miles south of Payson on November 17. A Welch vehicle struck Watkins car as they placed flares after his disabled car. One minor injury and one cut leg were reported. The fatality was the third near Payson that year. Accidents in November fell 16 from last year with 27 reported in 1973 and 11 in 1974 overall down 33 from the prior year.

Payson School Board Delays Pool Feasibility Study
The Payson School Board tabled a decision to fund a $2000 feasibility study with Hollinger Associates to analyze a community pool, snack bar, and park on school property. A legal opinion from the County Attorney is sought on whether public funds may be spent for such a joint project with the town.
