Evergreen Highway Meeting Reflects 1920 Plans

Banquet Big Success at Hotel Bancroft Honors Apple Bayern

A Tuesday banquet hosted by Mrs Grace Barrie at the Hotel Bancroft honored the out of town Apple Bayern. Fifty two guests attended with unique menu covers using apple labels. Mrs D L Ingard and Mrs L V Stewart were noted guests of honor with carnations marking their seats. Joel Priest of Boise praised Mrs Barrie, and dancing followed with Hezeltine orchestra providing music.

Portia Club Notes on Americanization and Culture

The Portia Club rounds up its second and fourth Monday programs with Roosevelt Day commemorations and Governor Davis's Americanization proclamation. Education topics include Senator Kenyons steel strike multilingual danger signs and child welfare county nurse needs. The afternoon features musical solos, readings, and piano duets, plus a plan for Miss Grace Wilmot's decorating lecture at the Emma Theatre with free slides and textile talks.

Revival meetings at Nazarene church with Evangelist N B Herrel

Revival services conducted by Evangelist N B Herrel run October 31 to November 9 at the Nazarene church next to Ford Garage. Evening services at 7 30 with Sunday sermons at 11 am and 7 30 pm. Banquet at Thompson's Restaurant October 23 attended by county officials and Payette County Commercial Club. Marriages Performed by Judge Luther in Late October

The week saw several marriages by Judge Martin C. Luther. Charen Williams of Baker Oregon wed Bertha Isley of Walla Walla Washington at his office on October 23. On October 26 Harl Jamon Goates wed Hertha Lela Cheek of Little Willow at the courthouse office. At six on October 29 George Forbes and Minnie Ory of the city were married at the judge's home and will live here where Forbes works in the Transfer business.

Farm Bureau notes tuberculosis test and pest control tips

Margaret Jane Sherwood dies after long illness

Margaret Jane Poste Sherwood, born June 22 1888 near Postville Iowa, died October 28 1919 in Payette Idaho at 81. She married Ambrose Sherwood in 1868 in Dodge County Minnesota, had five children born of whom only W F Sherwood survives. She joined the Christian Church as a child and remained devoted. Funeral services were held at Lauer's Undertaking Parlors in Payette with Rev Adams, then the body was shipped to Kendrick Idaho for burial beside two buried children.
